"Quick Looks" are very short videos highlighting a specific feature found on Blayney Ranch.
Below you will find the feature title followed by the grid map co-ordinance so you can see where on our property that specific feature is found. There is also an Access Level rating. The Access Level tells you how difficult getting people and equipment might be to this particular feature.
Access Level 1: Adjacent to hard-pack roads, easy access for vehicles and equipment trucks of almost any size.
Access Level 2: Adjacent roads may have vehicle size limitations, some walking or carrying of equipment may be necessary, use of "gator" type vehicles is encouraged.
Access Level 3: These are remote areas, no adjacent roads, "gator" type vehicles may or may not work in these areas, the need to walk and hand-carry equipment is very likely.
The Falcon's Nest, A6, AL2
Found in the South-West corner of our ranch, Falcon's Nest is surrounded on three sides with our magnificent rock formations. Hard-packed roads allow for easy access to this area and a nearby spot is suitable for Base Camp.
Big Rock, B6, AL1
One of our most photographed sites, Big Rock is easily accessible from our West Gate. From models to rock climbers, this spot has beautiful slabs of stone, a sheer wall and 360° of foot access. All roads in this area are hard-packed and can handle most vehicles. A secondary Base Camp can be established nearby. There are also several climbing anchors permanently mounted on the top of Big Rock.
North Range, EF1&2, AL3
Located on the northern half of the Ranch, the North Range is almost 20 acres of gently sloping land without rock formations. It is covered with Joshua Trees and native brush. It provides long shots of "endless" desert for your talent to wander aimlessly in. Access roads are found around the perimeter but may not be suitable for larger vehicles. Foot access is easy since the ground is relatively flat.
The Heliport, E4, AL2 (Video Coming Soon)
A cleared circle about 85' in diameter, the Heliport is one of the most level spots on property. There are rocky buttes to the west and interesting rock pinnacles to the north. It is popular for music videos and dance sequences. It has easy access from The Paddock, but the roads may not be suitable for heavy vehicles.
Cliffhanger Pass, D4, AL2 (Video Coming Soon)
This location is deep within Blayney Ranch. The Pass Road winds up and over the pass. There is a cleared area to the west of the pass that has been used for campfire scenes, gun fights and music videos. There is a small trail that leads into the ridge on the east side of the pass.
Danger Rock, E3, AL2 (Video Coming Soon)
Danger Rock is a grouping of rock pinnacles that bring you close in to the formations. Almost fully surrounded by large rocks, this area is great for campfire scenes and dialog when you don't want expansive views.
The Runway, D1, AL2 (Video Coming Soon)
Named for a previous production that used this area to represent a desert landing strip, the Runway is found near our north fence line. This area is fairly level with lots of Joshua Trees and shrubs. Access is best from our North Gate but road conditions can vary due to erosion issues.
The Gully, D3, AL2 (Video Coming Soon)
Just north of Cliffhanger Pass the Pass Road descends into the Gully. A low laying natural waterflow area, the Gully is popular for filming 4x4 and off-road vehicles traveling in either direction to or from Cliffhanger Pass. Roads in this area may not be suitable for heavier trucks.
The Oasis, B5, AL3 (Video Coming Soon)
A remnant from filming of decades ago, the Oasis is a concrete pond tucked away in a canyon. It can be filled with water and used as a "life-saving" discovery by lost and weary desert travelers. A water truck and about 200' for hose is required to fill the pond. There are no roads leading to the Oasis so carrying of equipment will be necessary.
The Paddock, F6, AL1
The Paddock is our primary horse feeding area. It is covered with asphalt grindings and is hard-packed enough for most any size vehicles. It covers about 18,000 square feet and makes a great Base Camp area. It is available whether you are filming on our property or not.
Love Rock, A6, AL2
The Love Rock area is located in the south-west corner of Blayney Ranch. It is one of the few places that receives the "Golden Hour" light from the setting sun. It has been used for TV shows, fashion ads & feature films. The access road to this area will not accommodate larger vehicles. There is a cleared area for a "video village" or smaller vehicles. Other features such as dry stream beds are found nearby.
Palm Springs Drive, A7 & B6, AL1

Palm Springs Drive (named because it represented the the entry to the home featured in the movie Palm Springs) is our widest and straightest road on property. It passes groves of Joshua Trees on both sides and is flanked by our rocks to the north. If you have a scene that required a vehicle to travel at higher speeds, this is your spot! Access is easy and roads are well packed.
Reba Ridge, B4, AL3
Reba Ridge is in a remote location on property and requires "gator" type vehicles or walking to access. It is our highest elevation feature and provides a view of the desert floor below. It is the spot where Reba McEntire shot her video for the movie "Four Good Days". The Pass Road is the closest hardpack road, but it's a substantial walk to the Ridge from there.
Sand Creek, C4, AL3 (Video Coming Soon)
Sand Creek has no roads leading to it so you will have to carry-in your equipment. It has a mixture of sand and rock on its floor, the embankments vary from etched by waterflow to large sandy inclines. Your talent can be positioned in the creek bottom or gazing into to it from above.
